The Springboks made it three from three in this year’s Tri-Nations tournament after beating the Wallabies 29-17 at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday.
Several South Africans stood out on the day as the Boks claimed their third straight victory on home soil.

15 Frans Steyn: (Replaced by Pienaar in 61st minute)
Always kept the defence guessing with his entries into the backline and varied his play well. He may well be the long-term solution in the no. 15 jersey.

The ball didn’t often come to his wing in the first half but he was always looking for work.

Combined well with De Villiers in midfield and his defence was solid. Had very little chance to show his skill on attack.

His distribution skills and defence stood out on the day despite having very little attacking opportunities.

11 Bryan Habana:
He may be one of the Boks’ most marked men but his workrate off the ball, especially the pressure he put opponents under, is making a huge impact each week.

10 Morné Steyn:
SA’s sharpshooter had another good day with the boot as he continues his fairytale season. For skipper John Smit it must be good to know that you can toss the ball to a 90 percent goalkicker.

9 Fourie du Preez: (Replaced by Januarie in 73rd minute)
His tactical kicking game was again spot on and his ability to read the situations makes him an invaluable player to the Bok backline.

8 Pierre Spies:
His support play was excellent and he always carried the ball with aggression. He came within inches of scoring a try late in the game.

7 Juan Smith: Replaced by Rossouw in 53rd minute
Showed guts to play on after hurting his ankle in the 20th minute. He also contested well at the back of the line-out and caused havoc on the Aussie line-out.

6 Heinrich Brüssow:
Did exceptional work at the breakdown and has most certainly added a different dimension to the Bok pack.

5 Victor Matfield:
Was a tower of strength in the line-outs and he followed up well to score his sixth Test try.

4 Bakkies Botha: (replaced by Bekker in 75th Minute)
Worked hard throughout the game and his defence around the fringes was particularly impressive. He landed a monster hit on Berrick Barnes which highlighted the Boks’ physicality.

3 John Smit (captain).
Put in a superb left-foot stab which resulted in a try for Victor Matfield and he seems to be getting better and better at tighthead prop.

2 Bismarck du Plessis:
Was always in the thick of things and he is becoming one of the key men in the Bok pack. His line-outs and scrums was also up to scratch.

1 Tendai Mtawarira: (Replaced by Jannie du Plessis in 69th minute)
Put in a couple of his trademark big hits and also got around the park and carried the ball strongly. He was solid in the scrums as well.

Pierre was a hugh factor in this victory. Real workhorse, Juan as well.
Loosies all 8’s and the tight five between 7 and 8, simply because although we won at the breakdown and lineouts, we struggled in the set pieces.
Agree with SAB, Kuifie gets a 6, the button gets a 6, and Mossie a 6.
