Burton Francis will wear the Vodacom Blue Bulls’ number 10 jersey against the Leopards at Loftus Versfeld on Friday night with the talented Dewald Potgieter captaining the team.
Francis gets a chance to start in the place of Francois Brummer and as a result of coach Frans Ludeke’s decision to start with a number of the youngsters, Potgieter will lead the team with Derick Kuün amongst the replacements.

As expected Ndungane is back in the starting XV following his extended injury lay-off and on his inside the exciting under 21 centre Stephan Dippenaar will partner Jaco Pretorius in the midfield.

Potgieter will play in a loose trio at the side of the experienced Pedrie Wannenburg and Deon Stegmann with Fudge Mabeta packing down in the second row alongside Flip van der Merwe.

Ludeke has also selected and entirely new front row that sees Frik Kirsten, Bandise Maku and Dean Greyling anchoring the scrum.

Ludeke said at the weekly press conference that was held at Loftus on Tuesday that the time is right for the youngsters to show what they’ve got and he is full of confidence that they will be able to utilise this opportunity.

“There are a number of the youngsters in the camp that are pressing for places in the starting XV and I believe now is the perfect occasion to give them a chance.

“They are all part of the system and have been working very hard during the last couple of weeks and I must add that they brought a great deal of positive energy to the team.”
