So, so chuffed to see that Div has gone with the same side that took out the Kiwi’s last Saturday. There was a lot of talk about him perhaps reverting to Pienaar at flyhalf, but sanity has prevailed, and the man has gone with the side that must be on the biggest legal high in the world …

Regular Sport24 reader, Janine Taylor, got a little extra for her money when she found a few of the Wallaby rugby side to be part of the group that went on a Shark breaching trip in Gansbaai on Saturday morning …

She was kind enough to send a few pics our way …

Cape Town – Wallaby flanker George Smith is determined not to have a bad hair day in Saturday’s Tri-Nations Test against the Springboks at Newlands.

The bustling Australian loosie, who usually sports stylish dreadlocks, has discarded his locks ahead of Saturday’s clash to ensure that the Boks won’t pull it out.

“Yeah, I had it cut because too many South African players were pulling it (in the past),” said Smith, who recently earned his 100th Test cap for Australia.

“I heard they (the Boks) had a good bit (of hair) a few years back and I thought now was a good time to get it off.”

The Springboks’ love affair with Smith’s hair started back in 2004 when reports surfaced that the South African players had been offered $100 (then R550) if they who could return to the dressing room with one of Smith’s dreadlocks after a Tri-Nations match in Perth.

#7 SuperBul, huh? He discarded his dreadsa long time ago, if not mistaken, more than a year ago…apparently his youngest kid was scared of it!

Oh ja and by the way, we got the hair but lost the test!

Cape Town – Poor discipline cost the Wallabies their first Tri-Nations Test – and in Test rugby it is all about putting as much pressure as possible on opponents and getting into position to score points.

“That’s as simple as it is,” says Matt Giteau, the brilliant Wallaby flyhalf who will on Saturday at Newlands come between the Springboks and their unbeaten track record in this year’s Tri-Nations.

The excellent hanging kicks which South Africa used to subdue the All Blacks in Durban, will however need to be improved on, as the Aussies have been known for their crafty tactical kicking over the past couple of years.

Giteau admits there are similarities in how the Wallabies and the Boks approach Test rugby. “We kick a lot too, yes – of course we want to score many tries, but we agree that you have to first play yourself into a good position.”

“I think you have to play in a couple of ways. And some days kicking rugby is the only way. In this respect I am very fortunate. Luke Burgess on my inside is a great tactical kicker and Berrick Barnes on my outside kicks well too. They take loads of pressure off me.”

Giteau said it was simply poor discipline that resulted in the Wallabies losing in Auckland.

“Test rugby is first about the application of pressure. So your kicking has to be good. Ours was not at all good in Auckland and that cost us.”

He has much praise for Morné Steyn: “I know him well; we have played against one another several times. The last time was when the Bulls played against the Force and there his boot made the difference. But again: we were undisciplined.”

The flyhalf said the Wallabies had extra motivation to reward their coach, Robbie Deans, with a victory.

Deans will arrive in South Africa on Wednesday following the death of his father.

“We understand Robbie’s game plan well, but have not been able to keep it up for 80 minutes. But I think we are now close to that eighty minute performance.”

More AB, hoe lyk dinge vandag?

The bag three of the Wobblies is more dangerous than what we faced against NZ, their current mob is shaky at best!

  • 12

    More Koosman
Ja ons sal JW se rush-defence goed moet gebruik, anders het ons moeilikheid!

  • 13

Aish! bag = back, not even close!!!

  • 15

  • 18

lol presies man, dis mos wat ek eintlik wou se!! haha

Ek dink as ons wen gaan ons dit met so 6 punte doen, ek kan nie n weghol oorwinning sien nie.Alhoewel n 60-0 lekker sal afgaan!
